Makaela Joy is an indie folk-pop singer, songwriter, and producer from Washington State whose music blends intimate, heart-wrenchingly expressive vocals with curious lyricism and warm, organic production. Moving between piano and guitar, her songs transform small everyday moments into reflective stories about love, change, and the strange beauty of being human.

Known for her whimsical yet emotionally honest songwriting, Makaela creates music that feels personal, conversational, and quietly profound. Her work is rooted in the belief that even when the truth itself isn’t hopeful, the telling of it is. Through her music and the community around it, Makaela’s mission is to help people break free from merely surviving and rediscover the wonder and beauty of their one precious life, and in so doing, find the courage to choose joy in a complicated world. Makaela and her husband used to teach 100+ music students and play shows in the PNW. However, since ye ol' covid 2020 & becoming a mother at the same time, a lot of things changed, and Makaela hasn't been very public about her music. But, during that time, she's been focusing on learning to self-produce her music between raising her two young children and handling the throes of life and loss. Now in 2026, she's returning to music professionally and it won't be something you want to miss. :)
